Product description

This bit features full cheeks with hooks and a medium ported barrel mouth. This is a Myler level 3 bit. It is NOT dressage legal.

The MB 33 is the mildest Myler mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass almost completely under the bit. Because this mouthpiece does not rotate onto the tongue and the port is wide, it applies little to no tongue pressure, working primarily off the lips and bars. The port on this mouthpiece is only 1 " high, so it will apply little to no palate pressure. Because the MB 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a trustworthy and consistent disposition and is trained to work off the leg and seat as well as the hands.

The full cheek with hooks is a traditional cheek style designed to be used with bit keepers (sold separately) to hold the bit in the correct position. The posts also prevent the bit from sliding through the mouth while applying cheek pressure. When used without bit keepers, the bit will sit in the mouth similarly to a dee or eggbutt without hooks. The ring has fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as one rein slot (hooks) at the bottom of the ring for rein attachmentno attachment for the curb chain or strap. The rein slot will fit standard " bridle leather. The hook makes this a much more versatile bit than one without the hook. Using bit keepers to hold the post in the correct position stabilizes the bit in the bridle instead of allowing it to flop forward. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement of the mouthpiece. Using the rein hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit.
