Myler English Dee w/Hooks Twisted Single Joint MB 09T

This bit features English Dee cheeks with hooks and a Myler MB 09T twisted single joint snaffle. This is a Myler level 1 bit. It is Not dressage legal.

The MB 09T twist has no pronounced sharp edges, and the twist is a mirror on each side of the center barrel to provide a balanced feel for horse and rider. It is a more comfortable Myler version of the traditional single-jointed mouthpiece. Although it lacks the benefits of a true Myler mouthpiece, it has a distinctive curve, so the bars of the bit wrap around the horses bar and lips, which makes the bit more comfortable.

The dee with hooks is a stainless steel "D" shaped ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as slots (hooks) at the top and bottom of the ring for bridle and rein attachment. The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb hooks). Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot on the standard and medium dee will fit standard 5/8" bridle leather. The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the dee without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheek pieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement of the mouthpiece. Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.
