Myler Eggbutt no Hooks Forward Tilt Ported Barrel MB 36

This bit features traditional Eggbutt cheeks and a Myler MB 36 forward tilted ported mullen mouthpiece. It is a Myler level 2-3 bit. This bit is Dressage legal. (Be sure to check USEF and FEI rulebook for most current information)

The MB 36 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is 1" high and tilted forward at a 45 angle, allowing just enough room for the horses tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lip but also applies tongue pressure because of the forward tilt.

This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece is similar to the MB 06, except that it is " higher, and the port is tilted forward. The MB 06 mouthpiece will apply less tongue pressure than the MB 36 but additionally offer less tongue relief when the reins are relaxed. An eggbutt is a traditional cheek style that keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring.
